  • What is the protein scale?

“The protein scale” is a graph mapping how well different types of proteins work as a source of energy for the dog. The higher the percentage (the biological value), the better. Salmon has a very high biological value of about 93%. This means that 93% of the salmon can be burned by the body, and converted into energy that the body can use. The result is fewer excrements than with protein sources such as wheat and beef.

  • How do I place an international order?

Please check our website to see if we have an importer in your country. If yes, please contact our importer. If we do not already have an importer in your country, please contact us.

  • Kronch Premium is extruded. What does this mean?

Extrusion is a very gentle method of processing raw materials, allowing them to be mixed into a finished product. During the extrusion process, all of the feeds ingredients are heated under high pressure to more than 130 degrees centigrade. This kills off all bacteria, and causes the starch in the grains to react with water, creating easily digestible carbohydrates. The starch in the grains is thus made available for the dog, which results in a higher rate of absorption, and a higher utilisation rate.

  • Which feed should I choose for my dog?

The Kronch series consists of 5 different types of complete Premium feeds. All of our feeds contain at least 16% real fresh salmon.

It is always a good idea to try Basic, which covers the needs for proteins, vitamins and minerals in grown ups with normal energy needs. If your dog is slightly overweight or has reached a mature age, you can choose Main as an alternative to Basic, as it contains less fat. Another difference between Basic and Main, is the carbohydrate source. Rice is used in Basic, and wheat is used in Main.

If your dog is a pregnant female, or if you are looking for a feed for puppies, you should choose Optimal Puppy. Optimal Puppy is formulated to meet the pregnant female's and her puppies' increased needs for energy, calcium and phosphorous, among other things.

For active dogs and working dogs we have developed Active. Active contains more fat and protein, and provides the active dog with extra energy.

As an alternative to the above we have Kronch Grain free, which is for dogs that cannot tolerate grains in their feed.

Below you can see a comparison between energy content, vitamins and minerals in our 5 feed types.

Yes. Please send us an email.

  • Why feed salmon oil on the side?

Kronch salmon oil is cold pressed and has a high content of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. Dogs and cats (and humans for that matter) cannot create these fatty acids by themselves and must absorb them from their diet. Omega 6 is present in sufficient amounts in most types of dog food, however they are often lacking in omega 3. This is why it is necessary to add more omega 3 to the diet, in order to obtain a perfect balance between these two fatty acids.

If you are feeding your pets with Kronch Premium, your pet's needs for omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids are already covered. However, there are situations in which it may be necessary to feed additional salmon oil. These situations include skin disorders and problems with the joints. Kronch Salmon oil can also be used to treat various long term illnesses, as well as during pregnancy, lactation and to help puppies grow.

Some animals also benefit from the additional salmon oil fed on a regular basis. However, please keep in mind that Salmon oil contains a lot of energy, so it may be necessary to adjust your pet's daily feed ration.

  • Who will benefit from Kronch Salmon Oil

Kronch Salmon Oil is perfect for dogs and cats with skin and coat problems, including allergy, dry skin, shedding, itching, dandruff and dull coat. Using Kronch Salmon oil on a daily basis helps to alleviate /prevent these problems.

Kronch Salmon Oil has an extremely positive effect on dogs and cats with gout problems.

Kronch Salmon Oil has a positive effect on dogs and cats suffering from allergies, especially those allergic to fleabites.

Kronch Salmon Oil strengthens the immune system and helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Kronch Salmon Oil also helps improve fertility.

  • How can you use real fresh salmon, when most of your competitors use fish meal?

Because we receive our salmon fresh from our good neighbour and business partner, Nordlax. The salmon is used in production less than 48 hours after it has been caught.

  • How can you make dry treats from 100% salmon?

Normally one would expect it to be necessary to add some kind of binding agent, to keep fresh meat from falling apart.

The treats are made by mincing the salmon meat, after which it is baked/dried. This way, no other ingredients are necessary to keep the treat together.

  • Isn’t it dangerous to add additional salmon oil to the diet?

No. Most dogs and cats get too much omega 6 compared to omega 3. This is why it is not harmful to add extra salmon oil to the dog's or cat's diet. It is, of course, necessary to have a reason to do so. Problems with skin, fur and allergies are the most common reasons to add additional salmon oil to the diet.

  • How quickly can I see the effects of feeding Kronch to my dogs and/or cats?

The initial effect can be seen after 6-8 weeks, and the full effect is seen after 12 weeks.

  • Are your treats suitable for dogs with allergies?

Yes, unless the dog is allergic to salmon protein (this is seen very rarely).
